![]() Case in point, there's one level with a boiler room in the basement. I flashbang EVERY room that i can't 100% tell is empty. This is not a game that will often forgive just running into rooms guns a blazin'. If you are incapacitated you fail the mission. Those are the strategies that work for me. If one of your officers is incapacitated you get docked points. It's always better to command your team to 'open and clear' or 'open gas/bang/sting and clear' and then follow than it is to lead the squad in. Then enter, following your squad, and aim your gun (and shoot if necessary) at any suspects that haven't complied yet. As soon as your guys open the door, pound on the 'use' key to shout at the suspects to surrender. I think it took me about 4 tries to get through the nightclub mission.I'm not sure why you're not succeeding but I know what works for me:Make sure the primary officer (you) is equipped with the Optiwand and mirror under every door before entering. If the room 'seems' empty, command the squad to simply 'open and clear'.If the room contains suspects (especially if there are alot of them) then command your team to open and clear with a flashbang (good for one suspect who seems to be facing the door), gas or stinger grenade (if there are multiple suspects). I then went on to fail the same damn mission in the retail game another few times before passing. I failed the mission in the single player demo a good dozen times before getting the hang of the game and succeeding. ![]() Quote:Originally posted by Neal:It's fun but I keep getting killed on the nightclub level. Aformentioned quirkiness when trying to control sqaudmates seperately.Overall, I'd score this game 8.5/10 and recommend it fully. ![]() The non-squad character models are a little blocky and generic. The AI is a little quirkier when commanding the red team and blue team seperately but once you get the hang of these quirks, it works pretty well.CO-OP: both Internet and LAN.The bad? Not much. ![]() They've excecuted my commands perfectly when I've commanded them as a group. I'm very impressed by a game that lets you do that and win.even though I've failed my first (or second or third or fourth) time through some of the missions and haven't always managed to get out of a mission with all my officers healthy.Other good stuff:The animation of the squad mates is excellent. The teamate AI is top notch. It's taken alot of 'less lethal shotgun' blasts, tons of shouting, CS gas, flashbangs, a taser, and - I'd like to think - good tactics and strategy. And the ramdomized placement of bad guys and civilians makes for great replayability (and means that when you fail a level, trying again is a totally new experience) And I've now made it through the first 9 levels without killing anyone, suspect or civilian. I grabbed it because I've been thoroughly impressed by Irrational Games' consistently high quality output (System Shock 2, Freedom Force and sequel, Tribes: Vengeance and now Swat 4) and I liked the single player demo. The level design is great - gritty realistic settings with the perfect amount of appropriate minutae - and really makes Swat 4 one of the most immersive games I've played. It's not my typical genre, in fact it's my first squad-based tactical shooter.
